High Point, N.C. – Conference Carolinas is proud to announce the 2018 Fall Scholar Athletes of the Year, as voted on by the Student-Athlete Affairs Committee. This prestigious award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each sport for recognition of their outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom.
Men’s Cross Country Award Winner
Tai Smith - University of Mount Olive
Earning Second Team All-Conference honors this cross country season, Tai Smith placed sixth individually at the Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country Championships, where the University of Mount Olive team won their seventh consecutive conference title. Ranked as high as 8th in the USTFCCA National Coaches Poll and 1st in the Southeast Region, Smith is a leader on one of the strongest programs in school history. Recognized as a two-time Southeast All-Region Team honoree, Smith set a new personal record at Regionals, finishing the 10K in a time of 32:12:20. Maintaining a 3.649 GPA to earn Academic-All Conference honors, Smith has demonstrated high levels of success both academically and athletically this fall.
