Associate Commissioner Brook Patterson holds the longest tenure in the conference office as a full-time employee besides league Commissioner Alan Patterson, dating back to June of 2000. He was originally hired as the league’s Sports Information Director before moving through the ranks as a Director of Media Relations, Assistant Conference Commissioner, and now to his current position as Associate Commissioner for Championships. Brook prides himself in doing anything and everything needed in the daily operations of the conference office and has worn many different hats over the years to ensure the league’s continued growth.
Patterson has been a regional and national representative of the league through participation in numerous NCAA Regional Advisory Sports Committees. He served as the former Vice President of the national DII Conference Media Directors and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Collegiate Women’s Lacrosse Officiating Association (COA), where he served as the association’s inaugural Treasurer.
Brook graduated from Appalachian State University working and travelling nationwide as a systems trainer for a telecommunications company before going back to graduate school for his Master of Science in Sports Management from Nova Southeastern University.
Brook gives all the credit to his wife Jayna for the example set for their two boys (Myles, 14; and Nolan, 10) who are involved in basketball and soccer as well as enjoying sports of all types. A church deacon and part-time volunteer high school basketball coach, Patterson humbly appreciates giving back to the local High Point community whenever possible.
