Mount Olive’s White Named Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for Second Time
High Point, N.C.> Mount Olive College’s Carly White has
been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas
women’s volleyball Player of the Week during week number nine
in the 2011 season. This is second time this year she has won the
award, taking the honor also in week six. White averaged 4.58 kills
and 1.00 blocks per set to go with a .413 hitting percentage in
three matches last week to help Mount Olive clinch a spot in the
Conference Carolinas Tournament. She had 18 kills and .484 hitting
percentage in the Trojans' three-set win over King. White, who had
nine of her kills in a dramatic 26-24 second-set win, recorded
kills on set point in the first two sets and finished with a kill
on match point. White followed with 22 kills, 7 blocks and a .528
hitting percentage in Mount Olive's come-from-behind five-set win
over North Greenville. She had 5 kills and no errors in 5 attempts
in the deciding fifth set. White started the week with 15 kills in
a four-set match at East Division leader Queen and has reached
double figures in kills in each of her last 13 matches, averaging
4.78 kills per set with a .422 hitting percentage. Mount Olive is
now 15-13 overall and 8-8 in Conference Carolinas play.
