Lees-McRae's Clendenin Named Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for Second Time

High Point, N.C.> Lees-McRae College's Taylor Clendenin has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Player of the Week during week number seven in the 2011 season. This is second time this year she was won the award, taking the honor also in week two. Clendenin led the Bobcats to another 3-0 worksheet in conference play last week, averaging 3.64 kills per set while attacking at a .408 clip. The junior outside hitter posted her best performance of the week on Tuesday against King, recording 19 kills and a blistering .654 hitting percentage, while also tallying 10 digs to notch a double-double. Clendenin followed with 12 kills and 12 digs against Queens on Friday, before posting a match-high nine kills and a .467 hitting percentage at Pfeiffer on Saturday. The Statesville, N.C. native currently ranks second on the team in kills per set (3.22) while attacking at a .277 clip for the season. Lees-McRae is 18-6 overall and 13-0 in Conference Carolinas play.

Coker's Recinos Earns Men's Soccer Player of the Week Award

High Point, N.C.> Coker College's Carlos Recinos has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's soccer Player of the Week during week number seven in the 2011 season. Recinos helped the Coker Cobras to another perfect 2-0 record for the week with a pair of game-winning goals. The first came in the Cobras' 3-2 win over regionally ranked No. 6 Lander and his second goal came in Coker's 1-0 win over regionally ranked No. 5 Limestone. The junior from Houston, TX had a hand in every single goal scored by the Cobras this week, scoring two and assisting on another in the Lander match and scoring the lone goal in the Limestone match. On the year Recinos leads the Cobras in goals (10), assists (8) and points (28). The Cobras currently stand at 12-1 overall and 7-0 in league play.

Lees-McRae's Sullivan Named Women's Soccer Player of the Week

High Point, N.C.> Lees-McRae College's MaryBeth Sullivan has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's soccer Player of the Week during week number seven in the 2011 season. MaryBeth Sullivan led the Bobcats to a pair of 1-0 victories over two of the top teams in the conference and the region last week, scoring the match-winner in each contest. The sophomore forward opened the week with a brilliant strike on Wednesday, netting the winner against Belmont Abbey early in the first half. Sullivan then delivered the deciding strike on Saturday against Mount Olive, taking a touch-pass from Emily Jones following a cross from her sister, LeeAnn Sullivan before sending a driving strike into the top corner for the eventual winner. The 5-7 attacker from Greensboro, NC currently leads the Bobcats with 10 goals, 22 points, and four match-winners. The Bobcats currently are 9-0 in league play and 10-2-1 overall.
