Lees-McRae’s Sullivan Named Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

High Point, N.C.> Lees-McRae College’s MaryBeth Sullivan has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women’s soccer Player of the Week during week number seven in the 2011 season. MaryBeth Sullivan led the Bobcats to a pair of 1-0 victories over two of the top teams in the conference and the region last week, scoring the match-winner in each contest. The sophomore forward opened the week with a brilliant strike on Wednesday, netting the winner against Belmont Abbey early in the first half. Sullivan then delivered the deciding strike on Saturday against Mount Olive, taking a touch-pass from Emily Jones following a cross from her sister, LeeAnn Sullivan before sending a driving strike into the top corner for the eventual winner. The 5-7 attacker from Greensboro, NC currently leads the Bobcats with 10 goals, 22 points, and four match-winners.  The Bobcats currently are 9-0 in league play and 10-2-1 overall.
