Queens women three-peat at Conference Carolinas
Championships
The Royals finished first out of 11 teams.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of
Charlotte played host to the 2011 Conference Carolinas Cross
Country Championships this afternoon at McAlpine Creek Park. The
Royals took the first place finish for the third year in a row
bettering last year’s win by one at 19. Mount Olive College
took second with a 69, while King College was third with an 80.
The Royals took the top three spots in the race led by Kimone
Hewitt who broke the conference record she set last year racing in
at a time of 17:41 for the individual title. Junior Andrea Guerra
was second with a time of 17:47.5, followed by Rosa young
(17:59.1). Ericka Skinner (18:04.8) of Barton and Chelsea Long
(18:23.9) of Mount Olive rounded out the top five in fourth and
fifth, respectively. The top five runners were also named to the
all-conference first team.
Making the all-conference second team was Emilia Skolubowicz
(18:28) of Queens, Holly Annas (18:46.8) of Queens, Amber Thompson
(18:53.7) of Mount Olive, Mathilde Timboni (18:56.9) of Queens and
Emily Shields (18:57.2) of Lees McRae. Shields was the top freshman
finisher of the field of 91 earning Conference Carolinas Freshman
of the Year honors.
The Conference Carolinas All-Conference Third Team was made up
of finishers 11-15.
Queens’ head coach, Scott Simmons, was named the 2011
Conference Carolinas Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
Hewitt was named Conference Carolinas Runner of the Year.

Royals take top-four spots for third conference title in
a row
The Royals finished first out of 11 teams.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University
of Charlotte men’s cross country team raced to their third
first place team finish in a row this afternoon at McAlpine Creek
Park in the 2011 Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships.
Queens turned in a score of 25 followed by King College with a
score of 53. Mount Olive College took third place with a score of
66.
The Royals took the top-four spots led by Felix Duchampt
(24:31.1) who was later named Conference Carolinas Runner of Year.
Chris Enriquez (24:38.3), named Conference Carolinas Freshman of
the Year, finished second followed by Anthony Mallory (24:48.9).
Simon Stuetzel was the fourth Royal to cross the finish line at
25:13.1. King’s Spencer Frantom (25:23.8) completed the
top-five and the all-conference first team.
Mount Olive had three men earn all-conference second team
honors. Ronnie Sturgill (25:27.4), Dalton Souza (25:47.7) and James
Maloney (25:54.9) finished in seventh, ninth and tenth,
respectively. Also making the second team was King’s Jordan
Noe who finished in sixth place with a time of 25:26.9, and Chas
Culberson who took eighth with a time of 25:40.8.
The Conference Carolinas All-Conference Third Team was made up
of finishers 11-15.

Year.
