King’s Pittman Named Women’s Volleyball
Player of the Week for Second Time

High Point, N.C.> King College’s Ashley Pittman has
been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas
women’s volleyball Player of the Week during week number
eight in the 2011 season. This is second time this year she was won
the award, taking the honor also in week five. Pittman registered
her fifth straight 10 or more kill game against both Belmont Abbey
and Virginia Intermont this week. She turned up the offense
against The Abbey in the final two sets going a combined 13-for-22
(.591) on the attack and only committing two errors. She finished
her evening with 17 kills, hitting at a .263 clip with four digs
and two block assists to help led the team to a 3-1 win. In
the 3-0 win at Virginia Intermont, Pittman had a 14-kill
performance helping the Lady Tornado beat the Cobras 25-22, 25-21,
25-19 for their fifth consecutive win. King is now 16-11 overall
and 9-4 in Conference Carolinas play.
Erskine’s Goodale Earns Men's Soccer Player of the
Week Award

High Point, N.C.> Erskine College’s Dylan Goodale has
been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas
men’s soccer Player of the Week during week number eight in
the 2011 season. Freshman Dylan Goodale came off the bench to score
two goals, including the game-winner, to spur Erskine past
conference foe Lees-McRae 3-1 in an important match-up last week.
It was Goodale's first collegiate multi-goal game. Against Pfeiffer
the Vienna, VA native had three shots and played effective defense
in the Fleet's 3-1 victory. The two victories helped Erskine take
an important step toward clinching a spot in the Conference
Carolinas Championship Tournament to start next week. Erskine is
8-6-1 overall and 6-4 in league play with two games remaining.
Limestone’s Alderin-Fleagle Named Women’s
Soccer Player of the Week

Alderin-Fleagle has been selected as the NCAA Division II
Conference Carolinas women’s soccer Player of the Week during
week number eight in the 2011 season. Following a five-goal
outburst this past week, Limestone College senior midfielder Ashley
Alderin-Fleagle (Kernersville, N.C.) took over the NCAA Division II
lead with 17 total goals scored. She is the first player in
Limestone women’s soccer history to lead the nation in
scoring. After being held scoreless in the first three matches
of her senior season, the Kernersville, NC native has recorded a
goal in 10 of the last 12 games and has notched a hat trick on
three separate occasions this year. More importantly, she has
played a key role in the program’s first 10-win season since
2002 as the Saints are 9-1 in games in which she has posted a
goal. Alderin-Fleagle put the Saints up 1-0 with a first half
header against Mars Hill before adding an insurance score in the
second half to lead LC to a 3-1 win. Against St. Andrews this past
weekend, she scored twice in the first half before capping her
third hat trick of the season with a header to surge Limestone to a
5-0 win, which ties the program record for most overall and
conference wins in a season. The Saints currently are 7-3 in league
play and 10-5 overall.
