Mount Olive’s White Named Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

High Point, N.C.> Mount Olive's Carly White has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Player of the Week during week number six in the 2011 season.  White averaged 4.82 kills, 1.00 blocks and 6.01 points per set to help lead Mount Olive to a 3-0 mark last week, all in conference play. After starting the week in fifth place in the East Division standings, the Trojans jumped to third place - only 1 1/2 games out of second place - and back in the running for a spot in the conference tournament. The Ash, NC native matched a career high with 22 kills in a four-set win at Coker. She compiled a .471 hitting percentage in the match and also had five blocks. White opened the week with 13 kills and only three errors (.455) in a three-set win over Barton. She capped the week with an 18-kill performance in a win at St. Andrews. The Trojans are on a four-match winning streak and have won five of their last six matches. Mount Olive is 9-10 overall and 5-6 in Conference Carolinas play.
