Limestone’s Douglass Named Men's Basketball Player of the Week
High Point, N.C. – Limestone College’s Jarrell
Douglass has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference
Carolinas men's basketball Player of the Week during week number
one of the 2011-2012 season. Redshirt-senior forward Jarrell
Douglass from Leesburg, FL showed why he is a legitimate candidate
for All-American honors as he delivered a pair of dominant
performances against two South Atlantic Conference foes. Against a
Wingate team that went 19-10 a year ago, Douglass delivered 25
points, 11 rebounds (four offensive) and shot 10-of-18 from the
field. The last of those was the game-winning shot falling away on
the left baseline that gave the Saints a thrilling 67-66 victory.
That performance moved him into 11th place all-time on Limestone's
scoring list with 1,076 career points. He followed that with an
even more impressive outing against Lenoir-Rhyne, a team which
pushed Queens to the limit in their season-opener at the Timken
Center. In that game, Douglass finished with 27 points, 11 rebounds
and three assists in a hard fought 70-66 victory. Limestone opens
the season with a perfect 2-0 record.
