Limestone's Douglass Named Men's Basketball Player of the Week

High Point, N.C. – Limestone College's Jarrell Douglas has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's basketball Player of the Week during week number three of the 2011-2012 season, this is the second time Douglas receives this award as he also received it during week number one. The senior forward from Leesburg, FL posted one of the most impressive weeks of his career against top notch competition at the Terrace Hotel/Ledger Tournament in Lakeland, Fla. Facing Florida Southern, a team that went 23-9 and won a game in the NCAA Tournament a year ago, Douglass hit his first 15 shots and finished with 30 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. For the game, he shot 11-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the line. He was just as impressive against an even better opponent in his next outing as the Saints took on Minnesota State, 28-5 and an NCAA Division II Elite 8 team last season. The Mavericks, who lost to eventual National Champion Bellarmine in the national semifinals, had no answer for Douglass who posted his second straight double-double with 28 points (11-of-16 shooting), 10 rebounds and three assists. That performance was a main reason that Limestone ran away from MSU for a 78-65 victory. For the week, the Leesburg, Fla. native averaged a double-double with 29.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a pair of games. He shot .793 from the field (23-29) and .818 (9-11) from the free throw line. Limestone is 3-3 overall in the season.
