High Point, N.C.
– Limestone College’s Charles Blue has been selected as
the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's basketball Player
of the Week during week number five of the 2011-2012 season. Junior
forward Charles Blue (Greenville, N.C.) posted the most impressive
week of his career as he helped lead Limestone to a pair of road
victories over Peach Belt and South Atlantic conference
competition. At North Georgia on December 7, Blue was crucial to
the Saints 18-point comeback that led to their 89-82 overtime
victory as he finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, a pair of
assists and a steal. For the game, he shot .417 from the floor and
.800 from the foul line. He was even more impressive in a 74-69 win
at Catawba on December 10. Blue delivered career-highs with 26
points and 17 rebounds to go along with a pair of blocks, a .563
mark from the field (9-of-16) and a perfect 6-of-6 performance at
the line. His three-point play with 1:54 to go gave Limestone a
67-63 lead and he would haul in a huge rebound and go 4-of-4 from
the foul line down the stretch to seal the five point victory, the
Saints third straight since losing leading scorer Jarrell Douglass
to injury. It was also Blue's third straight double-double. For the
week he averaged 20.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0
assists. Limestone is 6-4 overall on the season and 0-1 in league
play.
