King’s Pittman Named Women’s Volleyball
Player of the Week

High Point, N.C.> King College’s Ashley Pittman has
been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas
women’s volleyball Player of the Week during week number five
in the 2011 season. With the Tornado short-handed for
hitters, Pittman took over and led her team to three victories
against Conference Carolinas top competition. The Norris, TN native
twice set new season highs in kills, first doing so against
Pfeiffer (23) before eclipsing that total against Queens, who had
been previously unbeaten in league play. In two of those three
games she had hit better than .300 and on Friday against Pfeiffer
committed only two errors in 42 attack attempts. In addition to
setting new personal highs in kills on Saturday, she also
contributed toward a five-set win with two assists, five digs and
two blocks. King is 11-8 overall and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas
play.

North Greenville’s Braddock Earns Men's Soccer
Player of the Week Award

High Point, N.C.> North Greenville University’s Justen
Braddock has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference
Carolinas men’s soccer Player of the Week during week number
five in the 2011 season. Braddock, a junior goalkeeper from
Columbia, SC, led the Crusaders to two more wins in conference
play, extending their win streak to three games in a row and moving
the team into a tie for second place in the conference standings.
In game one of the week, Braddock recorded a season-high nine saves
against Erskine College as he faced 14 shots, 10 of which were
shots on goal, while allowing just one goal as NGU defeated the
Flying Fleet 2-1. In the week's second game, Braddock allowed just
one goal and saved six shots as Queens fired 17 shots, seven on
goal, toward the keeper as NGU won 2-1 in overtime. The Crusaders
now stand at 5-4 overall and 4-2 in league play.

King’s Shelton Named Women’s Soccer Player
of the Week

High Point, N.C.> King College’s Morgan Shelton has
been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas
women’s soccer Player of the Week during week number five in
the 2011 season. This is the second time this year Shelton has
received this award. The senior from Chattanooga, TN recorded
her second multi-goal game of the season, scoring her fifth and
sixth goals of the year against Coker. Her second goal of the game
broke a 2-2 tie, serving as the game-winner, and her second
game-winner of the year. Against St. Andrews, Shelton was involved
on the final three goals of the game, assisting twice before adding
King's fourth goal of the day, her seventh of the season. With her
two assists, she now has four games in which she has racked-up two
or more goals or assists in a single game and her third four-point
game this season. The Tornado currently are 3-3 in league play and
4-4 overall.
