CONFERENCE CAROLINAS ANNOUNCES SOCCER & VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

King’s Pittman Named Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  Tuesday, October 4, 2011

High Point, N.C.> King College’s Ashley Pittman has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball Player of the Week during week number five in the 2011 season.  With the Tornado short-handed for hitters, Pittman took over and led her team to three victories against Conference Carolinas top competition. The Norris, TN native twice set new season highs in kills, first doing so against Pfeiffer (23) before eclipsing that total against Queens, who had been previously unbeaten in league play. In two of those three games she had hit better than .300 and on Friday against Pfeiffer committed only two errors in 42 attack attempts. In addition to setting new personal highs in kills on Saturday, she also contributed toward a five-set win with two assists, five digs and two blocks. King is 11-8 overall and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas play.
