Conference Carolinas Announces Basketball Players of the Week

– Pfeiffer University's Jodie Lemons has been selected
as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's basketball
Player of the Week during week number four of the 2011-2012 season.
Freshman Jodie Lemons put up a huge double-double in an 82-51 win
over Barber Scotia during the Lady Falcons' only game of the week
on Tuesday. Lemons posted career-high's with 22 points, 16 rebounds
to go along with a 47% shooting percentage from the field. The
native from Madison, NC reached double-figures in the rebounding
department with 9:27 left in the first half, recording her first
collegiate double-double with 6:29 to go before intermission.
Lemons also added a pair of assists, steals and blocks as Pfeiffer
set a new team record for blocks in a game with 10. Lemons and the
Lady Falcons are off this week and most of next with exams coming
up for the 2011 fall semester. Pfeiffer will be back in action on
Friday, December 16th and 19th in their final non-conference
tune-ups before league play begins in January. Pfeiffer is 4-3 on
the season.

Hewitt Named Men's Basketball Player of the
Week

– King College’s Brian Hewitt has been selected as the
NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's basketball Player of
the Week during week number four of the 2011-2012 season, this is
the second time Hewitt receives this award as he also received it
during week number two. Hewitt and the Tornado embarked in only one
game this past week but it proved to be a statement game that
opened up their Conference Carolinas schedule. Led by Hewitt's 32
points, the Tornado knocked off preseason favorite Limestone
College, 75-67. Hewitt hit 80 percent of all his shots from the
field (12-for-15) and shot 77.7 percent from three-point range,
going 7-for-9. Twenty-one of his 32 points were scored from
distance. If his offensive output was not enough, Hewitt also added
two steals, three assists, three boards (2 offensive) and made one
block while only committing two fouls in 38 minutes played. King is
6-2 overall in the season and 1-0 in league play.
