King’s Hewitt Named Men's Basketball Player of the Week
High Point, N.C. – King College’s Brian Hewitt has
been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's
basketball Player of the Week during week number four of the
2011-2012 season, this is the second time Hewitt receives this
award as he also received it during week number two. Hewitt and the
Tornado embarked in only one game this past week but it proved to
be a statement game that opened up their Conference Carolinas
schedule. Led by Hewitt's 32 points, the Tornado knocked off
preseason favorite Limestone College, 75-67. Hewitt hit 80 percent
of all his shots from the field (12-for-15) and shot 77.7 percent
from three-point range, going 7-for-9. Twenty-one of his 32 points
were scored from distance. If his offensive output was not enough,
Hewitt also added two steals, three assists, three boards (2
offensive) and made one block while only committing two fouls in 38
minutes played. King is 6-2 overall in the season and 1-0 in league
play.
