Erskine's Campbell Named Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

High Point, N.C.> Erskine College's Sandra Campbell has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Player of the Week during week number one in the 2011 season. The Pilot Point, TX native helped the Fleet to a 2-2 record at the Francis Marion University Invitational Tournament over the weekend. The senior middle hitter had an impressive .355 hitting percentage while leading the team in kills (50) and blocks (13). For the week, Campbell averaged over 12 kills per game (3.57 k/s) along with 13 blocks and 14 digs defensively. 

 


 



 

 

Barton's Pajunk Claims Men's Soccer Player of the Week Award

High Point, N.C.> Barton College's Erik Pajunk has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's soccer Player of the Week during week number one in the 2011 season.  Sophomore midfielder Erik Pajunk helped Barton to a perfect 2-0 start in the first week of the season with a pair of impressive Southeast Region wins. Pajunk was instrumental in both game-winning goals and accumulated one goal and four assists for six total points on the week. Pajunk had a four-point performance against South Atlantic Conference (SAC) preseason favorite Wingate University as Barton notched a 4-2 road win. Pajunk scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute and had two helpers in the match. In the Bulldogs home opener, Pajunk supplied two more assists as Barton rallied past Lenoir-Rhyne University 2-1. Pajunk was part of a give-and-go that tied the game in the first half before setting up the game-winner with the primary assist on a transition goal in the 76th minute. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, product leads the league after the first week of the season in both assists and points.

 


 



 

King's Shelton Named Women's Soccer Player of the Week

High Point, N.C.> King College's Morgan Shelton has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's soccer Player of the Week during week number one in the 2011 season. In King's first regular season action of the season, Morgan scored in the seventh and 75th minute of the Tornado's contest en route to a 2-0 shutout victory against South Atlantic Conference foe Brevard College. Her first goal was unassisted after taking possession inside the box and taking a shot that deflected off a BC defender and into the back of the net. Her second goal was a perfectly lofted ball over the keeper's head off of her left foot that sealed the win for King. She took seven of the Tornado's 12 shots, landing five on goal.
