Lees-McRae’s Clendenin Named Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week
High Point, N.C.> Lees-McRae College’s Taylor Clendenin
has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas
women’s volleyball Player of the Week during week number two
in the 2011 season. The Statesville, N.C. native paced the Bobcats
to a 2-2 record at the Tusculum Fall Classic this weekend, leading
LMC to a pair of four-set wins against Montevallo and Lenoir-Rhyne
on Friday before the Bobcats dropped a pair of hard-fought
decisions to Francis Marion and host Tusculum on Saturday. The
junior outside hitter averaged 3.65 kills per set over the course
of the weekend, opening the two-day slate with a 15-kill
performance in a 3-1 win over Montevallo. Clendenin followed with a
17-kill, seven-dig showing against Lenoir-Rhyne before posting a
double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs against Francis Marion on
Saturday. She put together her best performance of the week against
Tusculum on Saturday when she tallied 16 kills and one error for a
.341 hitting percentage. For the year, Lees-McRae stands at 2-6
overall and 0-0 in league play.
