CONFERENCE CAROLINAS ANNOUNCES CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS OF THE WEEK
Barton’s Skinner Named Women's
Runner of the Week
High Point, N.C.> Barton College’s Ericka Skinner has
been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's
cross country Runner of the Week during week number two in the 2011
season. Sophomore Ericka Skinner won her first collegiate race on
Friday, capturing the 22nd UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational
women's crown leading Barton College to a 4th place finish out of
11 teams. Skinner dominated the race winning with a personal record
(PR) time of 18:12.09, which was 25 seconds faster than the
runner-up. Skinner was directly ahead of seven consecutive DI
runners to seize her first collegiate victory. Skinner's victory
helped the Bulldogs defeat all other DII institutions in the field
including Coker, Pfeiffer, St. Andrews, Francis Marion and Shaw.
The Hopedale, Ohio native averaged a 5:52 mile pace en route to the
win.

Erskine’s Culberson Named
Men’s Runner of the Week

High Point, N.C.> Erskine College’s Chas
Culberson has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference
Carolinas men's cross country Runner of the Week during week number
two in the 2011 season. Culberson, a senior from Pendleton, SC, set
a new school and course record in leading the Flying Fleet to a
commanding first place finish at the Erskine Invitational on
Friday. Culberson ran the 6K event in 19:38.29 almost a full minute
ahead of teammate Jesse Kemmerer. Erskine finished with 19 points,
35 points ahead of the second place team, Newberry College. The
Fleet will run in the Clemson Invitational this Friday.
