CONFERENCE CAROLINAS ANNOUNCES GOLF PLAYERS OF THE MONTH
Mount Olive's Urquiola Named Women's Golf Player of the Month

High Point, N.C. – Mount Olive College's Valentina Urquiola has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Player of the Month during the month of September. Urquiola finished first out of 29 golfers and matched her own school record for lowest 36-hole score at the season-opening CenturyLink Collegiate Invite, co-hosted by Mount Olive College and Barton College. Urquiola broke away from a three-way tie after the first round to card matching 75's for a 36-hole score of 150. Urquiola and teammate Emelie Andersson finished first and second in the tournament, the first one-two individual finish in school history in a tournament with at least five teams. The following week, Urquiola tied for seventh out of 54 golfers in the Marjorie Whitney Invitational at the prestigious TPC Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla. Urquiola, who holds school records for low career and single-season scoring average, averaged a 77 in her first four rounds this season.
North Greenville's MacDonald Named Men's Golf Player of the Month

High Point, N.C. – North Greenville University's Tucker MacDonald has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Player of the Month during the month of September. MacDonald, a freshman from Riverside High School in Greer, SC, put together back-to-back rounds under par in his first collegiate tournament in the Cherokee Valley Invitational to be named individual champion of the event. MacDonald shot a 71-69 two round 140 total to finish first out of 40 golfers and help the Crusaders to a second overall team finish. MacDonald closed out the months play at the Tusculum Fall Classic shooting a 76-74 two round 150 total where NGU finished seventh out of 12 teams.
