High Point, N.C. – King College’s Brian Hewitt has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's basketball Player of the Week during week number eight of the 2011-2012 season. This is the third time this year he has won this honor, taking the award on week two and week four of the season. Hewitt set a new season-high with 34 points in the Tornado's 19 point come-from-behind 70-66 road win against Coker. The 6-3 senior guard from Lexington, KY hit north of 50 percent of his shots both from the field and from distance in the win while also leading the team with eight rebounds. In their 92-81 victory over Belmont Abbey, Hewitt again led the team in scoring with 23 points and also dished out four assists. In his two games combined, he shot .559 from the field and .474 from three-point range. His shooting has helped the Tornado to post a 14-3 overall record and remain undefeated in league play with a 6-0 mark to lead the league’s west division standings while also posting the most three-point makes per game in NCAA Division II.
