Coker’s Lau Named Women's Basketball Player of the Week

High Point, N.C. – Coker College’s Amber Lau has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's basketball Player of the Week during week number ten of the 2011-2012 season. Amber Lau averaged a double-double for the week as she led the Coker women's basketball teams to a pair of Conference Carolinas victories, including a 60-58 win over previously unbeaten Limestone College. Lau was the driving force behind the Cobras win over Pfeiffer earlier in the week with 23 points and 12 rebounds and then added 11 points and eight rebounds in the Cobras win over Limestone at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte. The wins improve the Cobras winning streak to three games and gives Coker victories in five of their last six games. Lau is the Cobras leading scorer on the year with an average of 17.1 points per game.  Coker is 5-13 overall on the season and 5-4 in league play.

 

Belmont Abbey’s Good Named Men's Basketball Player of the Week

High Point, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College’s Tyshawn Good has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's basketball Player of the Week during week number ten of the 2011-2012 season.  Belmont Abbey junior guard Tyshawn Good led the Abbey to a 2-1 record this week, scoring 68 points on 22-55 shooting, including 9-23 from three-point range and 15-17 from the line. He added 12 assists and ten steals. Overall he averaged 22.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game in three games. Good opened the week with a 19 point performance at Limestone. He followed that by scoring 29 points in a win at North Greenville, sinking 10 of 22 field goals and 3-10 from three-point range, with three rebounds, four assists and four steals. Belmont Abbey is 12-7 overall on the season and 6-3 in league play.
