IWLCA Division II Poll, Week 11

Adelphi returns to No. 1; three schools boast first-place votes

 The Adelphi Panthers returned to No. 1 this week, taking over the top spot from NE-10 rival Le Moyne, the team that had supplanted them at No. 1 two weeks ago. Both the Northeast-10 and PSAC claim five schools each, while the ECC boasts a pair of schools in the top-15. Bloomsburg, the 2012 PSAC champion, moved into the rankings at No. 12 while PSAC finalist Mercyhurst returned to the poll, landing at No. 14.

 All five NE-10 schools sit in the top 10. The league is led by No. 1 Adelphi and No. 2 Le Moyne; Stonehill moved up to No. 6 while New Haven moved to No. 8 and Bentley held at No. 9.

With the addition of Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst, the PSAC also has five ranked institutions. West Chester leads the way at No. 7. Lock Haven just edged Bloomsburg for the No. 11 position, and Mercyhurst came in at No. 14, just in front of No. 15 Gannon.

The ECC has two teams in the rankings, starting with C. W. Post at No. 5 while ECC Champion Dowling moved into the top-10 at No. 10. Limestone from the Conference Carolinas moved up to No. 4. Two Florida schools remain in the poll, with Rollins picking up a pair of first-place nominations and moving up to No. 3. Florida Southern rose one spot to land at No. 13.

The NCAA tournament starts on Saturday with C. W. Post hosting Adelphi and Limestone welcoming West Chester. Rollins will face the winner of the Limestone/West Chester matchup next week in the semifinals, while Le Moyne will take on the winner of the Adelphi/C. W. Post game in the other semifinal.

The IWLCA poll has no bearing on the selection or seeding in the NCAA tournament.

This is the eleventh weekly poll for the IWLCA for the 2012 season; the next final poll will be released May 28.

Le Moyne returns to No. 1 as four schools have first-place votes

 The Le Moyne Dolphins retook the No. 1 ranking this week, but four teams were tabbed for the slot as the rae for No. 1 tightened last week. Adelphi moved to No. 2 despite four first-place votes while both C. W. Post and Limestone picked up two No. 1 nominations. The same 15 schools remained in the rankings from last week.

 The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences with seven ranked teams, including a 1-2 start with Le Moyne and Adelphi. New Haven (No. 7), Stonehill (No. 8), and Bentley (No. 9) form a block in the top-10, giving the league half of the top-10 in the poll. Merrimack moved to No. 13 and St. Anselm remained in the poll at No. 15.

 The PSAC claimed three schools in the poll, starting with West Chester at No. 6. Lock Haven rounded out the top-10 at No. 10, and Gannon moved up two slots to land at No. 12.

 The ECC has two teams in the rankings, starting with C. W. Post remains at No. 3 while Dowling just misses the top 10 at No. 11. Limestone from the Conference Carolinas picked up two first-place votes but moved to No. 5. The two Florida schools remain in the poll, with Rollins dropping to No. 4 and Florida Southern holding at No. 14.

 On Wednesday, the NE-10 tournament starts off as No. 8 Stonehill hosts No. 13 Merrimack and No. 9 Bentley hosts No. 7 New Haven. On Saturday, No. 1 Le Moyne hosts the semifinals and the Dolphins play the winner of New Haven/Bentley while No. 2 Adelphi plays the winner of Stonehill/Merrimack. The same day No. 3 C. W. Post plays No. 11 Dowling.

This is the tenth weekly poll for the IWLCA for the 2012 season; the next regular-season poll will be released May 8.

Adelphi moves back to No. 1; Rollins sits at a program-high No. 2; three schools have first-place votes

 The Panthers of Adelphi moved back into the No. 1 spot, but three teams snared a first-place vote this week in the rankings for Week 9. The Rollins Tars, the only undefeated team in Division II, moved up to a program-high No. 2 as well as the first votes for the top ranking in program history. LeMoyne, the top-ranked team over the last three weeks, fell to No. 4 but still picked up four first-place votes, keeping the schools bunched at the top.

 The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences as the league has seven ranked teams, starting with No. 1 Adelphi. LeMoyne sits at No. 4, while New Haven (No. 6) and Stonehill (No. 7) both hold steady; Bentley rounds out the top-10 at No. 10. Merrimack remains at No. 12 and St. Anselm stays at No. 13.

The PSAC has three ranked schools, with West Chester moving up to No. 8 and Lock Haven rising to No. 9. Gannon remains in the rankings for a second consecutive week, moving up to No. 14.

The ECC claims two teams in the top 15; C. W. Post remains at No. 5 and Dowling just misses the top 10 at No. 11. Limestone from the Conference Carolinas moves up No. 4. The two Florida schools remain in the poll, with Rollins rising to No. 2 and Florida Southern holding at No. 14.

IWLCA Division II Poll, Week 8

LeMoyne takes all 15 first-place votes for a third straight week

 The Dolphins of LeMoyne maintained their grip on the No. 1 ranking by taking all 15 first-place votes for a third consecutive week. At the other end of the poll, Gannon and Queens (NY) move into the rankings, tying for the No. 15 spot. This is the first time that the Knights of Queens have received a top-15 ranking in school history in women’s lacrosse.

 The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences as the league has seven ranked teams, starting with No. 1 Le Moyne and No. 2 Adelphi. New Haven (No. 6) moves up to edge Stonehill (No. 7) while Bentley holds at No. 8. Merrimack moves to No. 12 and St. Anselm holds at No. 13.

 The PSAC claims three ranked schools with the addition of Gannon; West Chester (No. 9) and Lock Haven (No. 10) hold from last week while Gannon moves in at No. 15.

The ECC also has three teams in the top 15; C. W. Post holds at No. 5 and Dowling moves up to land just outside the top-10 at No. 11 while Queens (NY) moves into the rankings for the first time at No. 15.

Limestone from the Conference Carolinas remains at No. 4, while two Florida schools remain in the poll as Rollins stays at No. 3 and Florida Southern moves up one spot to land at No. 14.

On Wednesday, No. 1 Le Moyne hosts No. 6 New Haven in a top-10 matchup between NE-10 teams. On Friday, the two top-10 PSAC schools meet as No. 9 West Chester hosts No. 10 Lock Haven. On Saturday, another top-10 NE-10 tilt is on the books as No. 2 Adelphi travels to face No. 8 Bentley. A pair of ECC-NE-10 games between top-10 opponents are also scheduled for Saturday as No. 5 C. W. Post welcomes No. 7 Stonehill and No. 11 Dowling hosts No. 12 Merrimack. On Sunday, the No. 7 Skyhawks remain in New York to take on poll newcomer and 15th-ranked Queens.

LeMoyne takes all 15 first-place votes for a second straight week

 The LeMoyne Dolphins swept all 15 first-place votes for a second consecutive week as all 15 schools remained in the ranking from last week. Only three schools moved from their positions in last week’s poll as there was little movement.

 The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences as the league has seven ranked teams, starting with No. 1 Le Moyne and No. 2 Adelphi. Stonehill remains at No. 6 and New Haven holds at No. 7 with Bentley remaining at No. 8. Merrimack sits just outside the top-10 at No. 11 and St. Anselm moves up to No. 13.

The PSAC’s three schools are led by No. 9 West Chester; Lock Haven remains in the top-10 at No. 10 and IUP moves to No. 14.

The ECC is represented by No. 5 C. W. Post and No. 12 Dowling, up one spot from last week. Limestone from the Conference Carolinas stays at No. 4.

The two independent schools in Florida remain in the poll, with Rollins holding steady at No. 3 and Florida Southern remaining in the poll at No. 15.

On Tuesday, No. 8 Bentley travels to No. 11 Merrimack. On Wednesday, the two ranked Florida schools square off as No. 3 Rollins travels to face No. 15 Florida Southern. Thursday brings No. 6 Stonehill hosting No. 11 Merrimack. On Saturday, the top-ranked Dolphins host No. 13 St. Anselm

LeMoyne sweeps all 15 first-place votes

 LeMoyne took total command of the top spot with a sweep of all 15 first-place votes this week, giving the Dolphins their first undisputed No. 1 ranking. Rollins moves up to their highest ranking in school history at No. 3 while IUP rose three spots to land at No. 12.

 The NE-10 leads all conferences with seven ranked schools; five of the seven comprise half of the top-10. No. 1 LeMoyne is followed by No. 2 Adelphi; Stonehill at No. 6 leads a pack of conference schools with New Haven at No. 7 and Bentley at No. 8. Merrimack holds at No. 11 and St. Anselm sits at No. 14.

 The PSAC claims three schools, with West Chester (No. 9) and Lock Haven (No. 10) both residing in the top-10. IUP moves up to No. 12.

 The ECC’s two schools include C. W. Post at No. 5 and Dowling at No. 13 while Limestone from the Conference Carolinas moves up to No. 4.

LeMoyne increases hold on No. 1; PSAC picks up two schools in top-15

 The LeMoyne Dolphins maintained sole possession of the top spot in the IWLCA rankings for Division II, picking up five first-place votes to put distance between them and the rest of the pack. Two PSAC schools enter the top-15 as Bloomsburg and IUP tie for the No. 15 spot, giving the conference four ranked schools.

 The NE-10 continues to lead all leagues, with seven ranked schools, including five schools ranked in the top-10. LeMoyne and Adelphi hold on to the 1-2 spots while Stonehill improves to No. 6 and New Haven rises to No. 7. Bentley slides into the top-10 at No. 8. Merrimack moves to No. 11 and St. Anselm improves to No. 13.

The PSAC now has four ranked schools, with West Chester (No. 9) and Lock Haven (No. 10) both remaining in the top-10 in the nation. Bloomsburg and IUP both enter the rankings at No. 15, the first entry for either school this season.

The ECC?s three schools are led by No. 3 C. W. Post, who held on to a first-place vote again. Dowling moves to No. 14 and Molloy remains in the poll at No. 15.

The Conference Carolinas? Limestone remains at No. 5.

Both Florida schools hold on to their rankings from last week as Rollins stays at No. 4 and Florida Southern remains at No. 12.

On Tuesday, No. 8 Bentley hosts No. 6 Stonehill in a key NE-10 matchup to start the week. Wednesday features No. 3 C. W. Post traveling to No. 7 New Haven. On Friday, a key PSAC tilt is on the docket as two teams ranked at No. 15 play, with Bloomsburg at IUP. On Saturday, a top-10 game takes place with No. 6 Stonehill traveling to No. 7 New Haven. LeMoyne holds on to top spot; St. Anselm enters rankings

 The LeMoyne Dolphins maintained sole possession of the top spot in the IWLCA rankings for Division II but NE-10 rival Adelphi closed the gap and picked up two first-place votes. The Northeast-10 also picked up a school in the top-15 as St. Anselm entered the ranking, coming in at No. 15.

 The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences; with St. Anselm?s addition the conference now has seven ranked schools, starting with No. 1 LeMoyne and No. 2 Adelphi. Stonehill moves up to No. 7 while New Haven (No. 9) and Merrimack (No. 10) round out the top-10. Bentley holds at No. 11 and St. Anselm sits at No. 15.

The ECC?s three schools are led by No. 3 C. W. Post, who held on to a first-place vote again. Dowling sits at No. 13 and Molloy moves to No. 14.

On Sunday No. 13 Dowling hosts No. 11 Bentley.

 The LeMoyne Dolphins maintained sole possession of the top spot in the IWLCA rankings for Division II and placed some distance between themselves and the field picking up four more first-place votes. NE-10 rival Adelphi had three top votes, while fellow New York school C. W. Post held on to one top ranking.

The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences with six schools; the league has a stranglehold on the top two spots with No. 1 LeMoyne and No. 2 Adelphi. Three other institutions are in the top-10, with New Haven (No. 8) and Stonehill (No. 9) switching spots from last week and Merrimack holding at No. 10. Bentley moves up one spot to No. 11, giving the conference a block of four schools in the poll.

The ECC boasts three schools, led by No. 3 C. W. Post. Molloy moved to No. 12 and Dowling slides to No. 14.

Both ranked PSAC schools are in the top-10, with Lock Haven holding at No. 4 and West Chester staying at No. 7.

The Carolinas Conference also has two ranked schools; Limestone holds at No. 6 and Pfeiffer remains in the rankings at No. 15.

Rollins moves up to No. 4 while fellow Florida school Florida Southern moves up two spots to No. 13.

The week starts with a game between two ranked teams on Monday as No. 4 Rollins welcomes No. 15 Pfeiffer. On Tuesday No. 4 Lock Haven faces No. 13 Florida Southern. A triple-header at Rollins on Thursday features six ranked teams. The day starts with No. 15 Pfeiffer playing No. 9 Stonehill; No. 6 Limestone takes on No. 1 Bentley immediately after that game, and the day closes with both teams tied at No. 4 squaring off as Rollins hosts Lock Haven. On Saturday the NE-10 sees No. 10 Merrimack welcoming No. 2 Adelphi. Rollins is also the site of two more top-10 games as the Tars face No. 9 Stonehill right after No. 6 Limestone tangles with No. 4 Lock Haven. On Sunday, No. 3 C. W. Post travels to face No. 11 Bentley and top-ranked LeMoyne goes on the road to take on No. 12 Molloy.

 This is the third weekly poll for the IWLCA for the 2012 season; the third regular-season poll will be released March 19.

LeMoyne moves into top spot

 The LeMoyne Dolphins claimed sole possession of the top spot in the IWLCA rankings for Division II, knocking conference rival Adelphi out of the No. 1 position. Both schools picked up seven top votes while fellow New York institution C. W. Post was also voted No. 1 on one ballot. Florida Southern moved into the poll for the first time in school history; the Mocs are in their first season of competition and the state of Florida has two ranked teams for the first time in the history of the poll.

 The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences with six schools; the league has a stranglehold on the top two spots with No. 1 LeMoyne and No. 2 Adelphi; three other institutions are in the top-10, with Stonehill (No. 8), New Haven (No. 9), and Merrimack (No. 10) forming a block. Bentley moves up three spots to No. 12.

The ECC boasts three schools, led by No. 3 C. W. Post; the Pioneers were picked at No. 1 by one voter. Molloy moved up to No. 11 and Dowling remained in the poll at No. 13.

Both ranked PSAC schools are in the top-10, with Lock Haven holding at No. 4 and West Chester staying at No. 7.

The Carolinas Conference also has two ranked schools with Pfeiffer?s addition to the poll; Limestone holds at No. 6 and Pfeiffer comes in at No. 14.

Rollins remains at No. 5 while fellow Florida school Florida Southern enters the ranks at No. 15.

Games involving two ranked teams include a top-10 meeting on Wednesday as No. 8 Stonehill travels to face No. 13 Dowling. Another NE-10 v ECC matchup takes place on Thursday as No. 9 New Haven travels to No. 11 Molloy. The top-ranked Dolphins put their No. 1 ranking on the line when they host conference rival and 12th-ranked Bentley on Friday.

 This is the second weekly poll for the IWLCA for the 2012 season; the third regular-season poll will be released March 12.

IWLCA Division II Poll, Week 1

Adelphi sits alone at No. 1; Rollins moves into top-five

 Reigning champion Adelphi holds on to the top spot in the first weekly regular season poll for the IWLCA as the Panthers just edge out conference rival LeMoyne. Fellow New York school C. W. Post moves up to the third spot, while Rollins claims its highest ranking in program history, jumping three spots to No. 5.

The NE-10 claims six schools and is led by top-ranked Adelphi and second-ranked LeMoyne; Stonehill (No. 9) and New Haven (No. 10) also represent the conference in the top-10. Merrimack moves up to No. 11 while Bentley remains in the poll at No. 15.

The PSAC has four institutions ranked, beginning with No. 4 Lock Haven. West Chester holds steady in the top-10 at No. 7. Gannon just edges Mercyhurst for the No. 12 position.

The East Coast Conference is the only other conference with multiple schools in the top-15. C. W. Post, who claimed one first-place vote, moves up to the No. 3 spot while Dowling falls to No. 8 while Molloy remains at No. 14.

Rollins, an independent in lacrosse, moves up to its highest ranking in school history at No. 5; the Tars sit just in front of Limestone from the Conference Carolinas, who are at No. 6.

IWLCA Preseason Division II Poll

Adelphi, LeMoyne begin season tied for the top spot; Northeast-10 leads with six ranked teams

Northeast-10 rivals Adelphi and LeMoyne begin the 2012 season tied for the top spot in the preseason rankings as released by the IWLCA. The two New York schools both advanced to the NCAA semifinals in 2011 and met three times in 2011 with the Panthers winning each time and handing the Dolphins their only three losses of the campaign.

The NE-10 is led by these two schools; four other members of the conference join them in the top-15, with Stonehill also in the top-10 at No. 9. New Haven comes in at No. 11, just edging out Merrimack at No. 12. Bentley is one of three schools tied for the No. 14 ranking.

The PSAC claims five schools in the preseason poll, including three in the top-10. Lock Haven leads the way at No 4 while 2011 semifinalist West Chester sits at No. 7. Mercyhurst rounds out the top-10 at No. 10. Gannon opens up the season at No. 13, just ahead of East Stroudsburg who is tied for the No. 14 position.
