Geno Escalante Selected By San Francisco Giants In Major League Baseball Draft

 

Mount Olive College catcher Geno Escalante, this year's Division II National Defensive Player of the Year, was selected by the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants Saturday in the 15th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. The 462nd player picked overall, Escalante becomes the Trojans' third-highest draft pick. Escalante's selection marks the seventh consecutive year and eighth time in the last 10 years a Trojan has been taken in the MLB Draft. More...

 
 

Coker's Zach Loraine Drafted by Hometown Cardinals

 

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College baseball player Zach Loraine was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 21st round (No. 635 overall) of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Saturday. Loraine is the first player to be drafted from Coker since 1994, when pitcher John Crowther was selected in the second round by the Toronto Blue Jays. More....

 

 

Emilio Pagan Selected By Seattle Mariners In Tenth Round Of Major League Baseball Draft

Pagan Is The Highest Draft Pick In School History

 

Belmont Abbey senior third baseman/pitcher Emilio Pagan was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the tenth round, 297th overall, of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. Pagan, the Abbey's everday third baseman and closer, was drafted as a pitcher. The Simpsonville, South Carolina product worked out for Mariners executives at Safeco Field last week. He is just the ninth Belmont Abbey player to be drafted and the first since 2010.
