Conference Carolinas’ Indoor Track and Field prepares for Championship Race
HIGH POINT, N.C.- Conference Carolinas will host its second
annual Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field
Championship Race starting at 12 pm on February 22, 2014. The
championship race will be held at the JDL Fast Track located in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina and will feature: Barton College,
Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, King University,
Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive,
and North Greenville University.
This will be the second year indoor track and field has
been sponsored as a conference sport and the second year the
conference championship has been held at JDL Fast Track. The
Conference Carolinas Championship Race will be the sole feature for
the arena that day, as the sport gains traction within the
conference and as conference schools continue to make
headlines.
King University swept the competition last year in winning
both the men’s and women’s side of the championship.
The Tornado have high hopes for this year’s competition as
both teams grabbed the top seed in the Pre-Season Conference
Carolinas Coaches Poll. However, with the sport still in its
infancy anything thing is possible.
In addition, the JDL Fast Track will also be the host site for
the NCAA Division II National Championships, thus giving conference
competitors the opportunity to envision themselves returning in a
couple of weeks to compete on the national stage.
