High Point, N.C.> Conference Carolinas All-Conference Women’s Lacrosse Teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating institutions.  Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine First Team, Second Team, Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year award winners. Awards were presented at the Conference Tournament Championship Semifinals hosted by  Limestone College as the top seed in this year’s tournament. This year's award winners are as follows:

Player of the Year:

Sarah Oor – Limestone

Senior attack Sarah Oor will go into the NCAA record books with 51 assists and 29 goals for 80 points in just 15 games as she has the second most assists in NCAA DII history with 209 and her 340 career points are tied for 13th all-time. With just 30 points separating her from seventh on the career list, Oor has the potential to continue moving up the NCAA rankings. She is also second in career assists among active players, third in points and tied for 15th in goals scored. A two-time Conference Carolinas Player of the Week this season, Oor currently leads the league in assists and is third in points. She is now a four-time All-Conference selection and has earned her first career Conference Carolinas Player of the Year Award.

Defender of the Year:

Katherine Athens - Pfeiffer

For the second consecutive season, Pfeiffer’s Katherine Athens has been named the best defensive player in the league. Athens etched her named in the Pfeiffer record books as she became the school’s all-time leader in caused turnovers and ground balls during her senior season. Athens led all of Division II with 49 caused turnovers, which is a single season school record. Athens finished the year with 74 draw controls and 58 ground balls and added two goals and six assists on the offensive end.

Freshman of the Year:

Ali Cole – Erskine

Erskine’s Ali Cole helped the Flying Fleet to the program’s first winning season and first Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament appearance.  The 5’6 midfielder easily set a new team record for assists in a season with 33, which ranks second in Conference Carolinas.  Cole also scored 52 goals, second on the team this year, but ranks third all-time in the program’s six year history.  Defensively Cole also led the team in caused turnovers and ground balls.  More importantly, Cole made her teammates better, most notably fellow midfielder Samantha Burns.  Burns tallied 70 goals to lead the nation this season after scoring 45 and 53 goals the previous two years.

Coach of the Year:

Scott Tucker – Limestone

One of the most successful women's lacrosse coaches nationwide, Scott Tucker earns his eighth Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year honor. This year he has guided Limestone to a perfect 15-0 overall record and a 6-0 mark in league play. The latter gave the Saints their 10th straight regular season championship, which spans the amount of time Conference Carolinas has sponsored women's lacrosse, and their ninth straight outright title. During that time they are an incredible 78-5 in league play and have lost just one such game since 2008, posting a 54-1 record over those seven years.
