Head coaches from conference member institutions nominate and then vote upon the award winners who represent the best of the best for the conference. Each Men's Volleyball All-Conference First, Second, and Third Team is made up of five position players, a libero, and a setter. Individual awards include Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Player of the Year.

Player of the Year

Angel Dache, University of Mount Olive – OH

Angel Dache ranks sixth in the nation in kills per set and eighth in the nation in points per set. He reached double figures in kills in 21 of 24 matches, including five matches of at least 20 kills. He came within two kills of matching a school record with a 26-kill performance against Limestone. Dache also recorded 21 kills to help Mount Olive take nationally ranked Lewis University to four sets. Dache becomes Mount Olive’s first-ever three-time All-Conference Carolinas First Team selection. In only three seasons at Mount Olive, Dache has become the Trojans’ all-time career kills leader.

Defensive Player of the Year

Michael McMahon, Barton College – L

Barton College libero Michael McMahon led all of NCAA Division I-II in digs, averaging 3.14 per set. The junior from Dana Point, Calif., reached double-figures in digs 17 times in 2014 and surpassed 20 in a match twice.

Freshman of the Year

Roberto Perez Vargas, Erskine College - OH

Erskine’s Roberto Perez Vargas played a crucial role in the Flying Fleet earning their first regular season conference title.  Vargas finished fourth in the conference and second on the team in kills per set with 3.75. Over the last eight games of the season, Vargas led the Fleet in kills, averaging 4.76 kills per set.  The Fleet went 7-1 over that stretch, clinching the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.  Vargas was voted three times the Conference Player of the Week and was twice recognized by Off the Block as the National Freshman of the Week.

Coach of the Year

Jeff Lennox, Barton College

In his second season since taking over a winless Barton College men’s volleyball program, head coach Jeff Lennox led the Bulldogs to their first Conference Carolinas Tournament berth in the program’s three-year history. Picked to finish last in the league after winning three games a season ago, the 2014 squad produced 11 overall wins and placed fifth in the conference with a 7-7 league slate. Barton’s improvement was reflected in its 5-3 finish to the regular season.
