Mount Olive's Gaypia Named NSCAA Division II Men's College Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, MO. – Mount Olive junior forward Cooper Gaypia has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Men's College Player of the Week, the association announce Tuesday.
Gaypia had a historic week for the Trojans, scoring four goals and leading them to a 2-0 record. The striker got his week started with a 3-1 win on September 30 against Queens (N.C.). Gaypia netted all three Trojan goals in the win over the Royals, which tied a school record for goals in a match and marked the first Mount Olive hat-trick in nearly a decade. As an encore, Gaypia would add another goal in Mount Olive’s 2-0 victory over King on October 4.
Gaypia, the reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, currently ranks third in both points (17) and goals (8) in the conference statistical standings.
