Belmont Abbey's Shelton Named Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey midfielder Laura Shelton has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 26 - Nov. 1, the conference announced today.

A senior from Advance, N.C., Shelton was a magician for the Crusaders, registering seven points on three assists and two goals and leading the team to wins over North Greenville and Limestone. In a 4-0 win over North Greenville on Oct. 27, Shelton would dish out three assists for three points and set the stage for an unbeaten showdown between Limestone in the season finale. Against Limestone, Shelton would be the hero, scoring both of the team’s goals in the 2-1 victory.

Laura’s stellar play led the Crusaders to the 2015 Conference Carolinas women's soccer regular season title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming Women’s Soccer Championship. She currently leads the conference in assists (11), while ranking eighth in points (25) and 12th in goals (7).
