No. 1 Seed Pfeiffer Wins 2015 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Freshman defender Juan Sanchez's 25-yard blast in the 26th minute would ultimately be the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win that captured Pfeiffer the 2015 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship. The No. 1 nationally ranked Falcons move to 20-0-0 overall, while the Saints fall to 15-4 on the season.
The win notches the Falcons a season sweep of the regular season and tournament titles, but is also the team's second straight tournament title.
Pfeiffer and Limestone would be in a defensive battle the first 26 minutes of play as neither team could put together solid scoring opportunities. However, the Falcons would go up 1-0 on the Saints in the 26th after Sanchez scored, and just a little over three minutes later Pfeiffer would tally another strike by Nathan Regis to go up 2-0.
The Falcons would take the 2-0 lead into the half and carry it all the way to the 88th minute. With 88:57 left on the scoreboard, Mateo Garces Yepes would put the match out of reach with his first goal of the season, giving the Falcons a 3-0 lead.
Pfeiffer and Limestone will find out its 2015 NCAA Tournament draw tomorrow night at 6 p.m. on the NCAA Selection Show.
