Barton College's Kiptoo and King University's McFadden Named Conference Carolinas Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College’s Sharon Kiptoo and King University's Amani McFadden have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the conference announced today.
Kiptoo, a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya, has been named the track athlete of the week after her performances at the Holiday Open hosted by Christopher Newport University. She competed in the 800 meter run and the mile. Kiptoo would finish second in the 800 with a time of 2:24.04, while taking eighth-place in the mile with a time of 5:25.68.
A freshman from Richmond, Va., McFadden has been named the field athlete of the week after making her collegiate debut at the Appalachian State Open. She would compete in the triple jump and finish eighth with a score of 11.25 meters. She also finished 21st-overall in the long jump with a score of 4.64 meters.
