Conference Carolinas All-Conference Golf Teams Announced
High Point, N.C. - The Conference Carolinas All-Conference Teams were determined by vote from each Head Coach of participating league institutions. Nominations were collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, All-Conference Second Team and All-Conference Third Team. Awards were presented at the league golf team banquet at the Conference Tournament Championships hosted by Belmont Abbey College at Bryan Park "Champions Course" in Greensboro, NC. This year's award winners are as follows:
Player of the Year:
Christian Constance, North Greenville University
Christian Constance has put together a solid campaign in his second year in Tigerville, turning himself into one of the team's most consistent players. The sophomore has put together a solid average this season, carding a 72.94 in 19 rounds played. He put together the team's second best round of the season in September, shooting a 65 at the King Invitational, one of his two first place finishes. Constance has four top 10 and six top 20 finishes to his credit with a conference low 135 in 36 hole tournament. Constance currently sits at 45 on the Golfstat.com head-to-head rankings while leading his team to ranking of 19th overall. He is the highest ranked individual in Conference Carolinas.
Freshman of the Year:
Nick Adams, University of Mount Olive
The University of Mount Olive's Nick Adams stormed through his first season of college competition to be named the league's Freshman of the Year. The freshman from Goldsboro, N.C., led the Trojans with a scoring average of 73.78 strokes per 18 holes. Adams recorded six top 10 finishes in nine tournaments in 2014-15, including each of the Trojans' final five regular season tournaments. His best finish was fifth at the 54-hole Jay Jennison Memorial and his low 18-hole score was a 69 at the Lander Bearcat Invitational as the Trojans set a 54-hole team record in the tournament. Adams becomes the second Trojan in three years to win Men's Golf Freshman of the Year.
Coach of the Year:
Brad Caldwell, North Greenville University
Brad Caldwell has already made his mark as a head coach in Conference Carolinas, leading the Crusaders to their most productive year in school history. The Crusaders found their way into the top 25 under the tutelage of the first year headman as NGU moves to 19th in the national poles and sixth in the Southeast region. Caldwell has NGU in position to take a spot in the NCAA Regionals, while also eying the squads first ever league championship. The Crusaders have a 16 round total of 295.4, posting two tournament wins and four top five finishes this season.
