Baseball All Conference Teams named for 2015

High Point, N.C. – The 2015 Conference Carolinas All-Conference baseball teams have been decided. Selections were determined by vote from each head coach of participating league institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and All-Conference Second Team. Awards were presented at the Conference Tournament Championships hosted by the City of Burlington and the Burlington Royals at the Burlington Athletic Stadium in Burlington, NC at this weekend’s conference championship.  This year’s award winners are as follows:

Freshman of the Year:

Connor Baldy - Pfeiffer University

Pfeiffer’s Connor Baldy played a crucial role for the Falcons this season. Baldy hit .297 this year for Pfeiffer including six doubles, 16 RBI’s and a team-high two triples. He recorded nine multi-hit games, including two three hit games. Baldy also had a stellar year defensively not recording a single error, with 33 putouts and four outfield assists. Baldy led the Falcons in stolen bases, swiping eight bags in 11 attempts. From February 14-20 Baldy hit safely in five consecutive games, recording two RBI’s in that stretch. In a 9-2 victory over Emmanuel on February 21, Baldy had his best performance of the year going 2-for-4 with four runs batted in.

Coach of the Year:

Carl Lancaster – University of Mount Olive

Carl Lancaster becomes Conference Carolinas Baseball Coach of the Year for the fouth year in a row and the 12th time in his career. He guided the Trojans to a 35-12 regular season record and a No. 2 ranking in the Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 30 Poll. Earlier this season, he recorded his 1,000th career victory.

Pitcher of the Year:

Gunnar Kines – University of Mount Olive

Gunnar Kines has been selected as the Pitcher of the year. He has a 7-2 record with a 3.61 earned run average and 101 strikeouts this season.

Player of the Year:

Jason Morozowski  – University of Mount Olive

Jason Morozowski is batting .417 with 18 doubles and 16 home runs to go with 14 stolen bases.  He homered and hit two doubles in Mount Olive’s final conference game at Belmont Abbey to end the regular season.
