Southern Wesleyan's Hughey Named Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University middle hitter Sarah Hughey has been named Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played during the week of Sept. 26 - Oct. 2, the Conference announced today.
Hughey, a senior from Liberty, S.C., posted 27 kills for a three kills per set average and hit .328 to lead the Warriors to a 2-0 week in Conference Carolinas play.
Hughey's best performance would come in a 3-2 win over Lees-Mcrae, as she put down 17 kills and hit .417 to go along with four blocks. She would close out the week with a 10-kill, six-block outing in a 3-1 victory over King.
Hughey ranks in Conference Carolinas in kills per set (3.77), hitting percentage (.372) and points per set (4.2), while ranking third in total kills (177) and total points (198.5). She also is the first Southern Wesleyan women's volleyball player to win a Conference Carolinas Player of the Week award and second Warrior overall.
