Conference Carolinas Runners Prepared for NCAA Cross Country Championships

NCAA Division II National Championships Central

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The 2016 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 19 at The Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Fla. Saint Leo University and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission will serve as hosts.

The University of Mount Olive Trojan men's team and Leah Hanle, along with King University's Tanner Cook will represent Conference Carolinas at the championship meet.

The championship will start with the men's 10K at 8:30 a.m. EST and conclude with the women's 6K at 9:45 a.m. EST.
 
WOMEN'S RACE
 
The 2016 Southeast Athlete of the Year and all-region selection, Hanle qualified for the NCAA National Championships after winning the Southeast regional with a 6K time of 21:03.65.

 
MEN'S RACE

The No. 13 nationally ranked Mount Olive Trojans will be making their sixth straight appearance at the national championship. The men head into nationals with a pair of titles under their belt, the 2016 Southeast Regional title and the 2016 Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country Championship. 

Individually, Tanner Cook of King earned a spot in the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship after posting a 10K time of 30:41.05 to place sixth overall among 169 runners in the Southeast Regional meet.

 


Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
