Erskine and Barton Earn Top Spots in Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Erskine College Flying Fleet and Barton College Bulldogs captured the 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball South and North Division titles, respectively, on Saturday afternoon. The Fleet will be the No. 1 seed out of the South, while the Bulldogs will be the No. 1 seed out of the North in next week's Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship.
Barton posted a 14-2 conference record and will be the No. 1 seed in the North, as well as the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. Finishing with a 12-4 conference mark, Belmont Abbey College will be the No. 2 seed in the North. Rounding out the North division seeds are King University at No. 3 and Lees-McRae College at No. 4. The Tornado turned in an 11-5 record in Conference Carolinas play, while the Bobcats went 7-9 in league contests.
In the South, Erskine will be No. 1 after going 14-2 in conference. Capturing the No. 2 seed in its first year of eligibility is Southern Wesleyan University with a 12-4 mark in league play. Limestone College and North Greenville University were tabbed the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds in the South, respectively. Both the Saints and Crusaders went 7-9 in conference matches, with Limestone holding the tiebreaker.
The 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship quarterfinals will be held on the campus of the higher seed on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The semifinals and final will be played on the campus of the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13. The Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship.
