King's Mitchell Named Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.King University guard Whitney Mitchell has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 28 - Dec. 4, the Conference announced today.

Mitchell, a senior from Oak Ridge, Tenn., led King to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins after averaging 23.5 points, five assists and two steals a game.

In an 88-74 win over Erskine, Mitchell would pour in 26 points on 8-for-12 shooting to go with six assists. Mitchell would follow that performance up with 21 points, four dimes and three steals in a narrow 69-67 triumph over Barton.

Mithcell ranks fifth in Conference Carolinas with 15.9 points per game, while ranking fourth in total steals (16) and ninth in total assists (21).

Also nominated for Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Erika Wesolek (Southern Wesleyan), Sydni Bickford (Pfeiffer), Alexis Ammons (Lees-McRae), Felecity Havens (Mount Olive), Jasmine Kearse (Limestone) and Chrystal Ezechukwu (Belmont Abbey)
