Limestone's Lester Named Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Maurissa Lester has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Jan. 25-31, the conference announced today.
A senior from Marietta, Ga., Lester picks up her second Conference Carolinas weekly award after leading the No. 5 Limestone Saints to a 3-0 week. She averaged 20 points, 3.7 rebounds and four steals while shooting 63.4 percent from the field.
Lester started the week with 17 points and five steals in a 101-52 win against Southern Wesleyan, shooting 8-for-13 from the field. She would follow that performance up with 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting and five more steals in a 74-65 win over Barton. Her biggest showing came on national television in a 90-64 rout of Mount Olive. Lester would poured in 27 points on 11-for-19 shooting, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, and add two steals.
Lester ranks sixth in the conference with a 15.1 points per game average and second in total steals with 47.
