Erskine's Hill and Fitch Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Erskine College's Jacquie Hill was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while teammate Candace Fitch was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played the second week of the season, the conference announced today.

A junior from North Augusta, S.C., Hill batted .714 (5-for-7) and scored three runs to go with four RBI to lead the Flying Fleet to a 2-0 record. Her best performance came in an 11-10 come-from-behind win over Chowan in which she went 4-for-5 with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth. 

A junior from Cherryville, N.C., Fitch picked up two wins for the Fleet last week, throwing a combined 10.1 innings in a doubleheader against Chowan. She would lead her team to a 11-10 win in game one after entering the game down 9-4, tossing 5.1 innings and scattering four hits and striking out three. Fitch would then throw a complete game one-hitter in a 10-0 game two victory.
