Belmont Abbey's Albrecht Named Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, KY. – Belmont Abbey College outside hitter Nolan Albrecht has been named the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) D I-II Men's Player of the Week, the association announced Tuesday.

A senior from Naperville, Ill., Albrecht only saw action in three of four matches for the Crusaders, but made his presence felt in each. He finished the week with 47 kills for a 4.86 kills per set average, hit .358 percent and added five service aces.

In a 3-0 victory over King, Albrecht put away 15 kills on 27 attacks with just one error and served up three aces. He followed the match up with 19 kills in a 3-1 win over Lees-McRae and closed the week out with a 13-kill and seven-dig performance in a 3-0 win over Alderson Broaddus.

Nationally, Albrecht ranks first in kills per set with five, while being second in points per set (5.46) and eighth in hitting percentage (.424)

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University are currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
