Barton's McCartney Named Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Jake McCartney was named Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played the week of Feb. 15-21, the conference announced today.
McCartney, a junior from Thames, New Zealand, went a combined 5-1 in singles and doubles play to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record last week. Against Catawba, McCartney would notch a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles and follow it up with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles with partner Yaxi Pintado. McCartney and Pintado would suffer an 8-4 No. 2 doubles loss to Erskine, but bounce back with an 8-2 doubles win against Emmanuel at the No. 2 flight. In singles play, McCartney would roll to 6-1, 7-5 and 6-2, 6-1 wins in No. 1 flights against Erskine and Emmanuel, respectively.
