Limestone Claims Top Seed in 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College captured the 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball regular season title officially on Friday (Feb. 26) night. The Saints will sport the No. 1 seed in next week's Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship, it was determined tonight afterthe conclusion of the season. Limestone finished the season 22-0 in Conference Carolinas action.

The University of Mount Olive and King University each finished the season 16-6 in conference play, but the Trojans captured the No. 2 seed due to tiebreakers, while the Tornado enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed. Erskine College was tabbed the No. 4 seed with its 14-8 Conference Carolinas record. Barton College locked up the No. 5 seed with a 12-10 record and North Greenville University claimed the No. 6 seed with a 9-13 record in conference. Rounding out the bracket is Pfeiffer University and Belmont Abbey College at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively, with identical 7-15 Conference Carolinas records.

The 2015 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinals will be held on the campus of the higher seed on Monday, Feb. 29. The semifinals and finals will be played on the campus of the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinals on Mar. 3 and 4, respectively. The Conference Carolinas Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.
