Limestone College Selected to Win 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Limestone College Saints received 80 points and eight first-place votes to be named the front-runners to win the 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship, the league announced today.
The Saints have won the last two Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championships and will be looking to complete the hat-trick in 2016.
King University was picked to finish second in 2016 with 67 points and one first-place vote. The Tornado posted a runner-up finish at the 2015 Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship.
Pfeiffer University and Converse College each earned 61 points to enter 2016 tied for third in the preseason poll. The Falcons finished tied for fifth last season at the conference tournament, while the Valkyries posted a third-place finish.
University of Mount Olive garnered 57 points to come in fifth, while Erskine College was tabbed sixth after tallying 46 points.
The Trojans finished 2015 tied for fifth in the Conference Carolinas tournament. The Flying Fleet concluded 2015 with a fourth-place finish at the conference tourney.
Belmont Abbey College received 37 points for seventh in the preseason poll, followed by North Greenville with 32 points and Barton with 27 points at eighth and ninth, respectively.
The Crusaders of Belmont Abbey posted an eighth-place finish at the Conference Carolinas tournament in 2015, while the Crusaders of North Greenville finished seventh in the tournament. The Bulldogs would finish ninth in the conference tournament.
The 2016 Conference Carolinas women's golf season begins on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University are currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
