Mount Olive's Dahlke and Barton's Russell, Jr. Named Conference Carolinas Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Jonathan Dahlke and Barton College's Lawrence Russell, Jr. have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the conference announced today.

A sophomore from Cologne, Germany, Dahlke posted an NCAA Division II Provisional qualifying time in the mile run for the Trojans at the Vince Brown Invitational. His time of 4:13.81 placed him second out of 59 runners. Dahlke's time was also the second fastest in school history.

A freshman from Sickleville, N.J., Russell, Jr. repeats as Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week. He managed to break his own Barton record and improved his NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump at the Buccaneer Invitational with a leap of 14.35m, which placed him 13th out of 36 competitors. Russell, Jr. also finished 11th of 39 in long jump with a mark of 6.92m, just off his school record of 6.97m.
