Belmont Abbey's Kwalwasser and Limestone's DeShields Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College's Connor Kwalwasser was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while Limestone College's Anders DeShields was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played the second week of the season, the conference announced today.

A senior from Highland Mills, N.Y., Kwalwasser registered seven hits, three RBI and a .636 average to lead the Crusaders to a 1-1-1 record against Newberry last week. He registered at least two hits in each game, and had his best performance in a 4-3 loss to the wolves, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. In a 6-2 win, Kwalwasser tallied two hits and an RBI, while going 2-for-4 in a 1-1 tie.

A sophomore from Duncan, S.C., DeShields allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings for the Saints last week. He would strikeout two batters in two innings of relief during the Saints' 5-4 win over Carson-Newman. DeShields would pick up the win for Limestone in its 5-1 victory over Saint Anselm, tossing five innings and striking out six while allowing two hits.
