Belmont Abbey's McPeak and Jacobs Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College's Sloane McPeak was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while teammate Samantha Jacobs was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played the second week of the season, the conference announced today.

McPeak, a sophomore from Winston-Salem, N.C., put together an eight-hit week with two homers and 10 RBI to lead the Crusaders to a 2-2 opening week. In two wins over Wingate the third baseman would go a combined 4-for-7 with two doubles and six RBI. In the Belmont Abbey's two losses she would notch four hits, including two homers and four RBI.

Jacobs, a senior from Salisbury, N.C., scattered five hits over 7.2 innings of work and struck out three batters for the Crusaders last week. In a 7-1 win over Wingate, Jacobs would give up three hits and notch two strikeouts in her complete game victory. In 2/3 innings against Columbus St., she gave up two hits and fan one batter.
