Barton's Webster Tabbed NCBWA Southeast Region Hitter of the Week
PEMBROKE, N.C. – Barton College's Andrew Webster has been named the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
A junior from Pittsboro, N.C., Webster led Barton to a 3-1 record during the week after hitting .538 with 9 hits (5 extra-base hits), including two doubles, two home runs and a triple for a 1.250 slugging percentage and a .632 on-base percentage. He scored six total runs and drove in 15 RBI. Webster's best performance came in a 19-4 win over King in which he hit for the cycle, finishing 5-for-5, including a grand slam, with 9 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Webster solid play also earned him Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors. He currently leads the conference in slugging percentage (.872) while ranking third in RBI (23) and sixth in homer runs (4).
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-Mcrae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University are currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
