Erskine's Grandy Named Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, KY. – Erskine College setter David Grandy has been named the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) D I-II Men's Player of the Week, the association announced Tuesday.
Grandy, a senior from Laguna Hills, Calif., dished out 87 assists in two three-set wins last week for the Flying Fleet. Against Belmont Abbey, he would average 16.33 assists per set after tallying 49 assists to go along with three digs and a block. In a sweep of Mount Olive, Grandy would register 38 assists for a 12.67 assists per set average and added six digs to his box score.
Grandy's performances earned him Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Player of the Week. He currently ranks sixth in Conference Carolinas in total assists (443) and second in assists per set (11.66).
Grandy is the second Conference Carolinas men's volleyball player to capture Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honors this year. Nolan Albrecht of Belmont Abbey College won the award on Feb. 2.
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University are currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
