Pfeiffer's Blue Sherrill and Mount Olive's Johnston Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University's Vada Blue Sherrill was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while University of Mount Olive's Madison Johnston nabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played during the week of Mar. 7-13, the conference announced today.
A freshman from Hiddenite, N.C., Blue Sherrill led the Falcons to a 4-2 record last week after posting a .556 batting average with three home runs, six RBI and 11 runs scored. Her best performance came in an 8-0 win over Tusculum, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two stolen bases.
Johnston, a senior from Wilmington, N.C., went 2-1 with a save for the Trojans last week. She would log 20.1 innings of work with 14 Ks while surrendering only six runs (3 earned) for a 1.03 ERA. Her top performance came in a complete game shutout over Walsh, as Johnston gave up three hits in six innings and added five strikeouts.
