King's Cerny Named Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – King University's Katya Cerny was named Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Mar. 7-13, the conference announced today.

A junior from Quebec, Canada, Cerny led the Tornado to a 3-1 week after going a combined 6-2 in singles and doubles play. She would pickup an 8-6 No. 1 doubles win and a hard-fought 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 10-7 win at No. 3 singles over Davis & Elkins to start the week. Cerny would then notch a 6-3, 6-3 staright-set victory at the No. 3 singles flight over Clarion, which was paired with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Against Saint Joseph's (Ind.), Cerny would capture an 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles and followed it up with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Her lone losses of the week would come against Limestone.
