No. 1 Seed Limestone Wins 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Limestone College Saints captured the 2016 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship on Friday (Mar. 4) night after defeating the No. 3 seeded King University Tornado 56-53.

The win gave the Saints a third straight Conference Carolinas tournament championship. Limestone earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division Women's Basketball Championship with the win.

Limestone will find out its 2016 NCAA Tournament seeding tonight on the NCAA Selection Show. The Saints hosted the Southeast Regional a season ago and are likely to host again this year.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University are currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
