No. 1 Seed King Wins 2016 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The King University Tornado claimed the 2016 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship on Sunday (Mar. 6) afternoon after defeating the No. 2 seed Barton College Bulldogs 85-53.

The title is the first Conference Carolinas tournament title for the Tornado. the win also earned King an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship.

King will find out its 2016 NCAA Tournament seeding tonight on the NCAA Selection Show.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University are currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
